Description
Our only job as yoga instructors is to hold space for our students to unite their mind, body and breath in a healthy safe way. That can be a fairly easy task when life is good. When we are safe, when our family and friends are safe, when we confidently know when and where our next meal is coming from, and this is the case for all of our students. We play an important role and can assist our students in metabolizing their overwhelm through something we like to call vertical integration. This means we can help them cope with their raw emotions and defensive reactions simply by holding space for them to reclaim a sense of safety in their body. While doing this we have to be extremely careful not to retraumatize or continue to traumatize. Because of that we have to include principles of trauma sensitive yoga into our classes. In general, and as a collective whole, we need to all operate at a slower, more grounded pace. By embarking on this training participants learn:
- Effective self-regulating techniques for themselves and their students
- Some of the latest practices and theories
- Techniques on how to safely hold space for students while supporting them in positive way to create lasting change
